Nestled along the west bank of the Nile in the town of Esna, the remarkable Esna Temple offers visitors a unique glimpse into the later periods of ancient Egyptian civilization. Unlike many of Egypt’s grand temple complexes that date back to the New Kingdom, Esna Temple was primarily constructed during the Ptolemaic Period and expanded under Roman rule, making it a fascinating blend of Egyptian and Greco-Roman architectural influences. From Philae Temple we sailed north on the Nile River to Luxor, then took a bus to Esna.
