Random Photos San Diego

April 23, 2025 by Michael

Random photos come up either with our mirror-less cameras or with an iPhone when not traveling. They are rarely our best photos but remind us of everyday life around our home. Each day we take a morning walk and along the way we will stumble across something interesting. With every season something new presents itself. One of us usually has a camera or their phone everywhere we go and ready to snap a picture of something interesting. We like the spontaneity, often using natural light and avoiding flash to keep the moment genuine. It’s about being open to capturing interesting scenes or moments that arise unexpectedly, whether during a walk, a drive, or any other activity. Often, because of the spontaneity, the photos are not the sharpest or best composed or have the best lighting, but they capture the moment.

Wet Winter in San Diego

March 15, 2024 by Michael

A wet winter isn’t new to us. Seems like it happens every spring/winter during our travels. We are always pushing the seasons, especially in the fall, winter and spring to catch the fall colors, wildflowers or the first tree blossoms. We spent part of our winter in San Diego this year.

Beginnings, Start of a New Era

February 29, 2024 by Michael

Beginnings can be bittersweet. They are often brought on by change, and in our situation, it was the passing of our beloved dog Jake, our ever present companion. Michael’s father passed away almost two years ago, before that it was his mother. Not long ago, Sandy’s aunt De passed, before that her father and other relatives. We are at the age in life when our friends and family are older and end of life is ever present.

Golden Spike-San Diego to West Yellowstone

September 28, 2023 by Michael

Golden Spike National Historic Park is located just north of the Great Salt Lake at Promontory Summit, Utah. We were in route from San Diego to West Yellowstone and weren’t sightseeing at all, but had to check this site out because of the historical significance.

Creativity-Ceramics, Painting, Photography

September 18, 2023 by Michael

Creativity is all around us, even if we don’t always notice it. It’s in the paintings on our walls, the sculptures in our parks, the music we listen to, the words we write down, the landscaping we enjoy and the movies we watch. Creativity can be a source of beauty, inspiration, and meaning in our lives. It can also help us to connect with ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Backyard Blooms & Birds

August 31, 2023 by Michael

Backyard blooms and birds are a favorite around our neighborhood. Sandy keeps three bird feeders and suet well stocked around the yard. She also has a couple of hummingbird feeders and an oriole feeder. The birds love to drink and bathe in our large backyard fountain. There are so many different birds and blooms that it is impossible to post them all. This was just a very small sampling of what we see.
