Y Knot Winery, Glenns Ferry, ID

Y Knot Winery is near the Snake River in the charming small town of Glenns Ferry, Idaho. Known for being one of the most treacherous river crossings of the Oregon Trail, it is now known for its winery, golf course, and thriving downtown. The city was established in 1871. It was about a 3.5 hour drive from McCall, ID to Glenns Ferry.

McCall, Idaho-Resort Community

McCall is a mountain tourist town that is located at the southern end of Payette Lake. It is an all-season destination for outdoor activity with good winter snowfall at an elevation of 5,021 feet.

Riggins, Idaho-Salmon River

Riggins is known for it’s rafting, kayaking, hunting and fishing. Located in the northwest section of Idaho, north of Boise, deep in a canyon at the confluence of the Salmon and Little Salmon Rivers.

Kamiah, Idaho & Clearwater River

Kamiah (cam-e-eye), Idaho is along the Clearwater River and Highway 12 in the northwest part of the state. The locals say the area is know for river rafting, fishing and hunting. From Missoula it was about a 3.5 hour scenic drive.

Missoula, Montana-Bitterroot Range

Missoula, Montana sits in a valley and borders the Bitterroot Mountains. Located in western Montana, Missoula is only about 45 miles from Idaho. Founded in 1860, it has become one of the larger cities in Montana and is home to the University of Montana. About 18,000 people live in the area. The Clark Fork River runs through the city.

Waterfalls, Glacier National Park, Part 2

Waterfalls seem to be more numerous than glaciers in Glacier National Park in early summer. They are everywhere. Many of them are along the roads, and many more require a scenic hike to get to. Most of the ones we hiked to were when we stayed on the St. Mary’s side of Glacier National Park.
