Tallahassee, Florida-COE Landing RV Park

January 19, 2022 by Michael Huntley

Tallahassee is located in Leon County and has been the capital city of Florida since 1824. It’s oak canopied roads and southern style homes are picturesque. Being a large city, it has a Costco, which we were looking forward to stocking up at. From Panama City Beach, Florida it was about a 2.5 hour drive to Tallahassee.

COE Landing, Florida

COE landing is a county campground, not a US Army Corp of Engineers campground. It’s a hidden gem located on Lake Talquin. There aren’t many sites, and they are all wooded. Half of them have water views. We had 50-amp service, good water pressure, but no sewer. There were plenty of over the air television stations because of nearby Tallahassee. Fortunately, Leon County put out a free wireless WIFI that our Parsec Husky Pro antenna was able to pick up. The signal was strong enough to allow streaming at night.

Our site had water views, through the trees. Each site had good distance between them, so we didn’t see our neighbors or hear them. Because we didn’t have sewer, we used the campground showers. Their showers were clean, hardly used, but had limited hot water.

Jake enjoyed walking the campground and marina each day. He loved watching all of the squirrels. There was also a pair of chickens.

There were a couple of bald eagles we saw almost daily. They were too far away for a quality image, but we enjoyed seeing them none the less. A great blue heron frequented the shoreline.

A nice combination of a historic site and zoo. There is an old farm that had been somewhat restored.

The best part was that it’s a beautiful property and a great way to spend the afternoon.
