Prescott, Arizona is located in the north central part of the state. It was once the capital of the Arizona Territory. At about 5400 feet elevation, the weather was cooler than Tucson. We stayed near Lake Watson and enjoyed the hiking trail along the lake.

Picacho Peak, Arizona

Picacho Peak, Arizona is a state park we stayed at on our way to Prescott from Tucson, Arizona. It is known for an insane numbers of Mexican Poppies and Desert Lupine. But, we were a couple weeks too early for the blooms. Our site was stunning, private, and spacious. A gem in the desert.

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is our favorite place to visit when in Tucson. Even though we were staying near Tombstone, we needed to go to Tucson about once a week for errands. Making a stop at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum became a routine. They also have a very good restaurant.Broad-billed Hummingbird

Sonoita and Elgin, Arizona

We enjoyed visiting a few of the numerous wineries in the Sonoita and Elgin Arizona area. Most of the grapes are grown locally and some come from Willcox. Its also cattle country.

Bisbee, Arizona Copper Mining

Bisbee, Arizona is in the southeastern corner of Arizona. It is near the Mexican border town of Naco. Bisbee was founded as a copper, silver and gold mining town in 1880. A byproduct of copper mining yielded high quality turquoise along with numerous other minerals.
