Cedar Key, Florida Gulf Coast

Cedar Key is about an hours drive southwest of Gainesville, or 2 hours North from Tampa, Florida. Cedar Key is a cluster of islands on the Gulf of Mexico. Its named after the eastern red cedar. The population is only about 700 and probably about the same number of tourists on motorcycles. Other than tourism, farm raised clams and oysters are thriving and is a multimillion dollar industry. Exploring the town and restaurants is easy to do on foot or bicycle.

Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park

From Suwannee River we went to Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is a 21,000-acre savanna in Micanopy, Florida, south of Gainesville. In 1970, Florida acquired the land and has been in the process of restoring the environment to a more natural condition ever since.

We decided to make our way back to Fort Myers to have more warranty work done on the RV. Suwannee River, White Springs was about a 4 hour drive from Blackwater State Park.

Blackwater River State Park, Florida

From Bella Terra we went to Blackwater River State Park. It opened in 1968 and totals about 600 acres. A destination for canoeists and kayakers.

Bella Terra of Gulf Shores, Alabama

Bella Terra is a private RV resort in southern Alabama. It was a chance to receive our mail and catch up on bills, phone calls, and emails. Bella Terra is an upscale Class A motorhome retreat. It has a luxurious 6,000-sq ft clubhouse with its distinctive decor, private movie theater, fitness center, and expansive lake views.
