Painted Desert & Petrified Forest, Arizona

December 17, 2022 by Michael

Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park are in northern Arizona and a great place to visit when traveling between Canyon de Chelly and Winslow. Interstate 40 and the old Route 66 run through the area. Winslow, Arizona and the Meteor Crater are also a must see.

Canyon de Chelly, Arizona

December 10, 2022 by Michael

Canyon de Chelly is a National Monument that is often featured in the Arizona Highways magazine and a place we have been wanting to visit for as long as I can remember. The problem is that it is located in the northeast corner of Arizona on Navajo land and there aren’t any close full hook up RV parks. Dry camping is the only option or staying at a motel. Our last attempt to visit was in 2020, but COVID shut the National Monuments down in the area, so we had to change our plans. The Navajo Nation is still fully masked, so we pulled ours out to enjoy this amazing, rarely visited canyon. From Dolores, Colorado it was about a 3 hours drive.

Sonoran Desert Life in Three Quarter Time

May 12, 2021 by Michael

The Sonoran Desert is located in the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. So much of life is task oriented and making efficient use of each minute. One place to slow down to 3/4 time is when walking through parts of the Sonoran Desert. There is so much to see, but often best seen when slowed down. Of course, we have to slow it down when cactus thorns and rattlesnakes are the reminder to pay attention.

Spring: Gila Bend to Tucson, Arizona

April 17, 2021 by Michael

Spring is always a favorite because of budding trees, flowers, and warmer longer days. We needed to be in Tucson to have some minor repairs done to our RV. We enjoy visiting Tucson Mountain Park, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and Saguaro National Park West. Western Way RV Resort is very close to those sites and this had been our third stay here.

Page, Arizona & Glen Canyon NRA

January 2, 2021 by Michael

Page is located in the northwest corner of Arizona near the Utah border. It’s a boaters paradise, but also a wonderful place for slot canyons and rock formations. The Navajo Nation closed all tourist activities, including the slot canyons, but there was still plenty to see and do. It was only about an hour drive from Monument Valley.
