Paso Robles, Wine Country, California

February 7, 2019 by Michael

Paso Robles is a beautiful area consisting of rolling hills covered with grape vines and oak trees near the California coast. It had been our go to destination for a long weekend getaway when we lived in San Diego. From Temecula, it was a 5 hour drive.

Temecula, California Wine Tasting

Sandy and Jake Huntley, Temecula, California

Temecula was less than a 2 hour drive north from Santee Lakes. Over the last 25 years we had explored the numerous wineries in the Temecula area. Not only has the quality of the wine improved, but the number of visitors has increased tremendously. So have the tasting fees and price of their wines.

Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve

From Jacumba, California we headed west to Santee Lakes, which is east of San Diego, to visit Michael’s dad for Christmas and New Year’s. Santee had all the amenities including a Costco. After a couple of weeks in remote Jacumba, it was nice to have the luxuries of a large city again.

Property, San Diego, California

November 22, 2018 by Michael

We still have a property in San Diego that we had rented the past couple of years. They moved out, giving us a great opportunity to make renovations and put it on the market. We changed our travel plans and stayed in Escondido, which is the closest RV park to the house. Southern California is an amazing place and it was good to be back after a 2 year hiatus. Great year round weather without mosquitos, black flies, tornados, hail or hurricanes. Just fires and earthquakes. It’s easy to see why so many people live here and pay the insane cost of living.
