Jekyll Island was only a couple hour drive south from Hilton Head, South Carolina. We were looking forward to it’s less pretentious and more rustic island community.

South Carolina is a scenic state, especially along the coast. Even though we are on our way to Florida, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to explore the area. We loved the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and seeing peak fall foliage for the last month, but were ready to see a beach again and eat fresh seafood.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited National Park in the United States. It seems as if all the visitors were there for the fall foliage spectacle.
Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline & Shenandoah
The Blue Ridge Parkway is part of the National Park Service and links Shenandoah National Park to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 469 miles long and continues through Shenandoah as Skyline drive for another 105 miles.
New York, PA & MD…Southward Bound
New York was our first stop after leaving Vermont. We loved seeing all the fall colors, but further south, the beautiful fall foliage had not yet reached it’s peak. We were looking forward to witnessing the colors all over again!

Vermont is where we have family and friends who we love to visit, especially during the fall. The area has mountains, rivers, wildlife, and pristine forests without the crowds.
